ハワイ、ホノルルで開催された今年のASRM学会で“Vitrification Course” に参加し、胚や卵子の7種類の凍結方法を学びました。
95％以上の回復率と高い妊娠率が見込まれる凍結胚ではありますが、世界中の異なるクリニックで使用されている凍結機器や試薬の利点や欠点について議論しました。
“Egg Preservation and Banking – Where are we going and what do we need to know?” というセミナーでは凍結卵子数をもとにした妊娠率の現実的な予測を立てることの重要性を力説されていました。
彼らは卵子凍結に利用できる新しい助成制度や卵子凍結を希望する女性の増加についても議論していました。
“PCOS and the Multi-Disciplinary Team Approach.”
シンポジウムではPCOSが患者間で変化するどのような症状があり、生活習慣の改善や生殖内分泌科医、栄養士、皮膚科医や遺伝子カウンセラーらの治療を含む複合的なアプローチがどのようにPCOSの影響を軽減しうるかと説明していました。
次世代シーケンスはIVFの結果を劇的に改善するPGDやPGSの費用を削減しました。
この”PGD-The Near Future”というセミナーで私は世界が如何に速く前進しているかを認識させられました。
展示会場では世界中で利用できる新しい製品やサービスの情報が広大に展示されていました。培養士として新しい機器や製造業者から新しく改良された培地は興味深く、今後当院でも試してみたいと考えています。
ASRMで得た情報はとても貴重で進歩的であり、我々はいつもIVFの成功率の向上の方法を探しています。

This year at the Annual ASRM meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii I attended a hands on vitrification course that I found invaluable and leant 7 different protocols for vitrifying embryos and oocytes.
We discussed the pro’s and con’s of all the vitrifying equipment and mediums from different clinics around the world, but all had over a 95% recovery rate and higher pregnancy rates for frozen-thawed embryos.
The seminar “Egg Preservation and Banking-Where are we going and what do we need to know?” highlighted the importance of realistic expectations for pregnancy rate based on how many eggs are frozen.
They also discussed new finance options available for egg freezing and how the number of women freezing their eggs has increased.
“PCOS and the Multi-Disciplinary Team Approach.” Symposium explained how PCOS has a multitude of conditions that vary between patients and how lifestyle modification and a multi- disciplinary approach can reduce the effects of PCOS, including treatment from a reproductive endocrinologist, nutritionist, dermatologist and genetic councelor.
Next generation sequencing has decreased the cost of PGD and PGS dramatically improving IVF outcomes. This seminar “PGD-The Near Future” made me realize how rapidly this has advanced around the world.
In the exhibition hall there was a vast array of information, new products and new services available from all over the world.
As a lab technician I was impressed with new equipment and new improved mediums from manufacturers that we will be trialing in the next few months. The information available at the ASRM conference is invaluable and progressive, we are always looking for ways to improve IVF success rates.
